Platform mismatches

GA4 and Klaviyo revenue don't match: why and how to fix it

Klaviyo usually claims more revenue from email and SMS than GA4 gives those channels credit for, sometimes dramatically. Both are measuring honestly; they just use different attribution rules and see different data.

Why Klaviyo claims more

Klaviyo attributes a sale to a campaign if the person opened or clicked within its attribution window (often 5 days click, longer for some setups), regardless of what they did in between. GA4 uses last-click or data-driven attribution across all channels, so if someone clicks your email then later arrives via a Google search and buys, GA4 may credit Search while Klaviyo credits the email. Same sale, two owners.

The other causes

How to reconcile

First, UTM-tag every Klaviyo link so GA4 at least files the traffic as email. Then accept the two will still differ and assign roles: Klaviyo for judging email and SMS program performance, GA4 for cross-channel attribution and overall store behaviour. Comparing one channel in Klaviyo to the same channel in GA4 and expecting a match is the mistake. It is the same pattern behind GA4 and Shopify not matching.
