Microsoft (Bing) UET tag not tracking conversions
The Universal Event Tracking tag is installed, but your conversion goals in Microsoft Advertising show nothing. The tag and the goal are two separate things, and the goal is usually where it breaks.
UET tag vs conversion goal
The UET tag is the base snippet that collects activity. A conversion goal is a rule you define on top of it, counting a destination URL, an event, a duration or pages-per-visit. A live tag with no goal, or a goal whose rule never matches, produces zero conversions even though tracking "works".
What usually goes wrong
- Destination goal URL mismatch: the goal expects a confirmation URL your checkout never shows, or the match type is too strict.
- UET tag not on the conversion page: confirm the snippet is on every page, including the thank-you page.
- Event goal with no event: an event goal needs a custom event actually fired from the page or GTM.
- Reporting lag: Microsoft conversions can take hours to appear, so do not judge it in real time.
How to fix it
Install the UET Tag Helper extension and confirm the tag fires on your confirmation page. Then check the goal rule against the real URL, loosen an over-strict match, and for actions with no unique URL fire a custom event through a clean data layer. If several platforms disagree on totals, that is a different problem worth reading about.
