Why Consent Mode v2 stopped your ads tracking

You enabled Consent Mode v2 because Google required it for EU ads, and your Google Ads conversions fell off a cliff. The requirement is real, but a sloppy setup can switch your ad measurement off rather than just making it compliant.

What v2 changed

Consent Mode v2 added two new signals (ad_user_data and ad_personalization) that Google now needs to use EU audience and conversion data. If your banner does not set these correctly, Google treats consent as denied and your ad data dries up, even for users who did consent.

Why it guts ad tracking when wrong

How to recover

Confirm your banner sets all four consent signals and that you are using advanced mode so Google can model the conversions it cannot directly see. Done right, you stay compliant and keep most of your ad measurement. Done wrong, you are compliant and blind.
