Why your UTM campaign isn't showing in GA4
You carefully tagged a link with UTMs, clicks came in, but GA4 shows nothing under that campaign. The tag is almost always fine; the problem is usually a parameter mistake, a timing issue, or GA4 filing the traffic somewhere you did not look.
Check the UTM itself first
- Wrong parameter names: only
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign(and term/content) are read. A typo likeutm_campaginis ignored. See what a UTM is. - Lost on redirect: if the link passes through a redirect that strips query strings, the UTM never arrives.
- Stripped by the destination or by a link-shortener that does not preserve parameters.
Then check where GA4 filed it
The campaign data may be arriving but landing where you are not looking. A non-standard utm_medium can push the visit into Unassigned or a different channel instead of the report you checked, per GA4's channel groupings. Look in Traffic acquisition by Session campaign, not just the channel view.
Timing and attribution
GA4 reports lag 24 to 48 hours, so a campaign from today may just not be processed yet, confirm in DebugView or Realtime. And remember last non-direct click attribution can credit the campaign on a later visit, not the first click.
