Is your cookie banner actually compliant?
A cookie banner that looks professional can still be breaking the law, and most do. Compliance is not about having a banner; it is about how it behaves. Here is a quick self-check.
The checklist
- Nothing non-essential fires before a choice. If GA4 or the pixel loads on arrival, you fail. See consent breaking tracking.
- Reject is as easy as accept. A prominent "Accept all" with a buried reject is not valid consent. See why your reject button matters.
- No pre-ticked boxes, and consent is a clear, active choice.
- The choice is recorded and remembered, so you can prove it.
- A linked, accurate cookie policy and a way to change the choice later.
If you failed any of those
You are likely non-compliant, and probably losing or mis-measuring data at the same time, because the same faults that break the law break your tracking. The two problems share a root cause and a fix. A consent and tracking audit checks both at once.
