TikTok Pixel not firing? How to diagnose and fix it

If TikTok Events Manager shows no activity even though the pixel is on your site, the pixel is either not loading, not matching the event, or being blocked before it reports. Here is how to tell which, in order.

Confirm the pixel is actually loading

Install the TikTok Pixel Helper Chrome extension and load your site. If it sees no pixel at all, the base code is missing, blocked by consent, or firing on a page the helper never reaches. If it sees the pixel but no events, the base is fine and the problem is the event itself, like a tracking pixel that loads but never gets told to record anything.

Check how the event is triggered

Rule out blocking and consent

Ad blockers hit TikTok hard, and if your cookie banner gates marketing tags, the pixel will not fire until someone accepts. Test in a clean browser with no blocker and with consent granted. If it fires there but not in the wild, the browser pixel is simply being blocked for a big share of users, which is exactly why the TikTok Events API exists.

The reliable fix

Fire the pixel from a clean data layer through GTM so the trigger is explicit, test it in Pixel Helper and Events Manager test mode, then add the server-side Events API so blocked browsers still report. If your Meta pixel has the same symptom, the diagnosis is almost identical.
