What your agency isn't telling you about your tracking
Most agencies are honest and competent. But many run your campaigns on top of tracking they never audited, and report the numbers that tracking produces, flaws and all. If the data is wrong, the results you are shown are wrong too, and the incentive to check is not always there.
The uncomfortable questions to ask
- When did you last audit the tracking, not just the campaigns?
- Do the conversions you report match my actual orders in Shopify or my bank?
- Are we double-counting across GA4, Google Ads and Meta? See why platforms disagree.
- Is our consent setup losing us data, and is it even compliant?
- How much are iOS and cookie changes costing our measurement, and what have we done about it?
The signs something is off
Reported ROAS that never shows up in revenue, conversion counts that do not match orders, dashboards that look great while the bank does not, and a lot of traffic in Unassigned or Direct. None of these are necessarily bad faith, they are usually unexamined tracking, but you are the one paying for the gap.
